I'd guess most people (including myself) don't like to read and seeing big blocks of text is a turn off, especially if we're trying to learn how to do something or need to learn something urgently. I know a lot of people want to be as detailed as possible, but you can still be detailed using sub-headings if you use them as a road map through your content, like little traffic signs along the way LOL.
